Today’s unprecedented global movement of people, the modern-day diaspora, has opened new frontiers for mission. Refugees, immigrants, and international students bring the nations into reach in ways the Church has never seen before. At the same time, a generation of young believers is searching for a faith that is lived out with purpose, courage, and conviction.
Nextwave exists to meet this moment with a simple focus: to the nations, through the nations. We want to train and send the next generation—from all nations to all nations—for the glory of God.
REACHING THE “DIASPORA?”
The word diaspora means “to scatter” and is rooted in the biblical story of God’s people being dispersed throughout the nations (John 7:35, James 1:1). In Scripture, God often uses scattering—whether by exile, migration, or persecution—as part of His redemptive plan to make Himself known among the nations. Today, the term refers to people living outside their country of origin, including refugees, migrants, international students, and displaced communities.
At Nextwave, we see the global diaspora as one of the greatest mission fields of our time. God is bringing the nations within reach of the Church—often placing unreached people groups in cities and neighborhoods around the world. We train and send gospel workers to engage these communities, believing that reaching the diaspora is not a side mission, but central to God’s global plan.
