Mobilizing urban missionaries to reach the nations— right here at home.

What is a Diaspora Mission Catalyst?

DM Catalysts are young adults who have been trained and sent out to gateway cities in the U.S. and Canada where there are large concentrations of diaspora people

How does it work?

Get trained and get sent

Catalysts are equipped through a 11-session training program conducted by Nextwave Missions in partnership with the Diaspora Mission Collective. After training, DM Catalysts are deployed to serve on short-term assignments alongside key strategic personnel in major urban areas. These Catalysts are focused on identifying, mapping, and engaging diaspora people and communities, including the least-reached among them. This is front-line mission work which is accomplished alongside and through strategic ministry partnerships.

The objective is for Catalysts to provide fresh information and insights about the diaspora in a city and to pursue entry strategies among target populations at the direction of the ministry partner(s). With the information and connections that DM Catalysts provide, our ministry partners can continue to build outreach pathways and bring other local church and outreach ministries in to continue the work of reaching the nations.

DM Catalysts are trained by Nextwave Missions through 11 training topics:

  1. Joining God in the Mission

  2. On Mission to the Diaspora

  3. Conducting Fieldwork

  4. Worldview 101

  5. Prayerwalking

  6. Spiritual Warfare

  7. Gospelling 101

  8. Maintaining Your Spiritual Health

  9. Understanding Your Identity in Christ

  10. Team Dynamics

  11. Serving Across Cultures

Why It Matters

Global missions no longer starts overseas. The nations are here.

Cities like Houston, Chicago, Toronto, New York, Denver, and Atlanta are home to thousands of unreached people groups — men and women who may never hear the Gospel unless someone crosses the street, not the sea.

DM Teams are a hands-on, real-world introduction to frontier missions and urban church planting.
